PIA & e-ticketing

PIA would start e-ticketing across the world from September. According to the plan, tickets can be bought and the passenger name record (PNR) could be confirmed on the Internet.

Would online booking have discounts or not? Pakistanis still don't seem to learn a thing or two about e-commerce. Usually online commerce is still more expensive than the brick and mortar store. Any explanation?

Totally! AeroAsia publicized discounts. Not sure about PIA.

Libertybooks.com offers 20% off on shopping online. Does anyone know more?

Looks like PIA is all set to earn a hefty profit of Rs 4.4 billion this year, but sadly its Chairman PIAC Ahmed Saeed made no announcements of discounts for people making bookings through its e-ticketing system. I guess we'll have to wait untill September to see whether they'll offer any incentives for online bookings or not. But i guess eventually, and initially inorder to kickstart the online booking process they'll be left with no other option but to do so. So keep your fingers crossed.

Zunaira, I can only hope for any incentive, if really any, be given to people who don't want to bear the hassle and time spending in offline markets. Liberty Books markets 20% off on online shopping but you better buy somehting from them. My first experience was highly frustrating. The time I ordered my first book, I got no response for next 3 days. My phone was out of order but my email wasn't. A book finally arrives after 7 complete days and opening the invoice it states: 190Rs. sale price... online price 225 Rs. When I opened the book and removed the price tag, it was same. I was charged 225 Rs. while their actual price was 190 Rs. I still preferred not to go out side and hunt for my fav. books in the market. So, I placed two more orders a week later, more or less the same response was given. I have no idea if they have to charge more to their online customer, what's the point of mentioning that in the invoice to further piss them off probably?
I would still favor online shopping and prefer that over offline one and hope that some competition soon builds up and we could finally experience online shopping the way it was meant to be. I have some more to say on other e-tailers but may be sometime later.

PIA's website for tracking flights is not working let alone e-tickets you wimps
