According to news items, its supposed to have tons of new features, like anti-phishing, spyware protection, etc. I suppose the saying 'dair aya durust aya' should be correct in this case, but how much time will IE users have before people start creating viruses for IE 7?

its toooooooo late now.
Mozilla is rocking all around.
MS IE is history.
now sooooooon you all using pirated windows have to Quit using it.MS wont give any update to pirated windows :(
when using linux....i guess first choice would be Mozilla.
I'd love that day when all of use will use LINUX!!

are the above comments any indication of firefox's increased download patterns? ;-)

ff is fine browser, too bad the more people download it, the more attractive it will be to exploiters, and in which case it will be a loser because a relaxed open-source simply can't match dedicated development discipline.

Well AllahBaba + Anonymous!

Doesn't your comments also show some sort of a pattern as to why so many I.E. people are getting converted into FireFox? :-)

As for the software development process. A closed source situation like MS, is no where near as efficient as an open source model. The very point that FireFox is an open source software, makes it a big success. FireFox's better security and fast speed are secondary parameters.
